I am trying to run my Office 2004 from my previous imac on my new 24 inch imac. It is asking for a serial number with would be on the back of the original booklet. I have searched everywhere but seem to only have the original disk. Am I out of luck? I am sure that I registered it in 2003, can the number be recovered?

If you still have your old Mac, you can copy over the Microsoft preferences.
It's an invisible file.

To get a new CD key from Microsoft you would need your product ID or proof
of purchase. I'm guessing you don't have that either.

I like WebConfidential, 1Password and just saw a new password keeper that
looks interesting, LicenseKeeper.

I think the serial number should actually be on the back of the original
DVD case, not the booklet, if that helps. Labeled CD Key, an orange or
yellow sticker.
