Does anyone know if Office 2004 (Outlook) for Mac will support an
email archive feature? I am currently using Office X and I have not
been able to find this option or if it is even supported. Thanks!

I assume you mean Entourage (Outlook 2001 in Classic was the last
Outlook for the Mac).

What type of archiving are you looking for? You can drag a mailbox in
Entourage v.X to the desktop as MBOX files. These files can be searched
using a text editor, or you can drag them back into Entourage.

Or you could create a different identity and drag the folders from your
main one.

Alternatively, you may find Paul Berkowitz's Export/Import script
helpful:

http://www.entourage.mvps.org/help/convert.html#Anchor-convert_scripts

or (what I do), use eMA (eMessage Archiver, check Version Tracker),
which stores messages in a Filemaker db.

I believe that the new mail client in the upcoming office 2004 is
going to be named outlook. Again, I currently use entourage and I
don't seem to see an "archive" feature. I would like to select a date
range and have entourage "purge" out the selected dates into an
archived file. This is very common in the pc world, more specifically
withing outlook and outlook express.

The mail client in Office 2004 is named Entourage. MS hasn't announced
any plan to change the name of any future version to Outlook, nor would
I expect them to in the forseeable future.

Nor have they announced any new archiving features in Entourage 2004, so
I couldn't comment one way or another (they really haven't announced
many features at all - you should see the number increase as it gets
closer to ship date).

You can certainly create a rule with Entourage to move messages of a
certain date range to a folder, which you could then drag to your
desktop.

eMA allows archiving of messages over a certain age.
