I cannot find the Block Arc item in Office 2004 apps. It's the only
way that I know of to draw partial circular arcs. How does one draw
true circular partial arcs?

In the Drawing Toolbar, under basic shapes there is an arc tool. Hold down
the shift key when drawing the arc, and it will be constrained to a circular
arc.

Thank you. I'm a recent switcher, and did not realize that there is a
drawing toolbar as well as the formatting palette. I'm a switcher and
lovin' it!

For a discussion of some of the differences between Word on the Mac and PC,
you're welcome to refer to some notes on the way I use Word for the Mac,
titled "Bend Word to Your Will", which are available as a free download from
the Word MVPs' website
(http://word.mvps.org/Mac/Bend/BendWordToYourWill.html). Just Do a "Find"
command for "PC" and you'll see them. On page 151 there is an article "PCs
and Macs, main differences in Word interfaces" that includes a table of
commonly used keyboard shortcuts.

[Note: "Bend Word to your will" is designed to be used electronically and
most subjects are self-contained dictionary-style entries. If you decide to
read more widely than the item I've referred to, it's important to read the
front end of the document -- especially pages 3 and 5 -- so you can select
some Word settings that will allow you to use the document effectively.]
