Quite frankly it sounds like typical HP pass-the-buck hype - application
software doesn't print. The program simply calls print services from the OS
& hands the data off. It's then up to the OS & the printer driver to get it
on paper. Just because more than one mfr is not on top of their game doesn't
mean the originating program is at fault. Seems to me that if it were an
"ongoing issue" of MS origin that *nobody's* printers would work, and if
that were the case I'm reasonably certain MS would have addressed the issue
during the nearly 4 years Office 2004 has been out there
I've used 2
Epson's since installing 2004 & never missed a character.
There *was* an issue at one time that was resolved by the11.3.9 update, but
that had to do with a crashing issue, not a failure to print. AFAIK it must
have worked as the problem reports have ceased since its release.
On your end, make sure you *do* have the must current HP driver, that OS X
is fully updated, that Office is updated to 11.3.9 & that you run Repair
Disk Permissions. Afterward, restart the Mac - hopefully you'll be better
off. If not, you may check to see if there is a driver for a different HP
printer that is compatible with your model - sometimes there is overlap
between models.
