Office 2004 Word / Tiger / Kyocera Problems

pcro

I've recently upgraded a few computers. Here's my printing problem.

Tiger/Office 2004/kyocera....won't print wor
documents...pdf,excel,safari ok

Tiger/Office V.x/Kyocera....everything perfect

Panther/Office 2004/kyocera....everything perfect

The thing is I don't get an error when it doesn't print the wor
documents...It does everything normal then I go to the printer an
there is nothing there....when I look at the status it's blank, other
say 'finished'. I've dowloaded the updates for both tiger and offic
2004, the thing is the tiger/office 2004 print on the old black an
white HP that we have in the office. Wierd...any help would be great!
Thank you

We don't have a "good" answer for you.

Microsoft changed from Apple QuickDraw to Apple ATSUI in Word 2004, to
enable Unicode support.

Word simply calls OS X's print routine, it doesn't do anything about
printing itself: the dialog you see when you print is actually an OS X
Finder window.

However, ATSUI does call the print routine differently, so Word 2004 does
have some "printing issues" that Word X did not have (and vice-versa:
generally Word 2004 is performs better than Word X).

Microsoft is working very hard on this issue, and various other serious
issues Word has with Tiger. In the meantime, there may be a driver update
released by Kyocera.

Since you are technically knowledgeable, you may wish to try the alternative
Gimp Print driver, which has been known to solve many "won't print"
problems. Look here for details:

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply John, I forgot to mention, that when I add th
kyocera using IP, it gives me a generic drivers and I can print wor
2004 on the kyocera. This is a temporary alternative but I can't us
the 4 paper trays or the letter feeder, because they are options wit
the kyocera drivers. Hopefully Kyocera will upgrade the drivers t
work or either Tiger or Word 2004 will figure it out. Thanks again

We are having the same problem.. Although I have identified an erro
message. If you watch the printer queue as it tries to print the jo
the message "The proces "kyofilter" terminated unexpectedly on signa
11." My printers are configured with the latest driver and are usin
the specific Kyocera Printer. This happens with both a KM-1815 and
KM-2550.
