Office 2004

Pete Q

I was debating whether or not at this point in the year
it is worth it for me to purchase Office 2003 or wait to
see if Microsoft will be releasing a 2004 version of
Office.

Has anyone heard about whether or not this is planned
and/or what type of additional features are expected?

Thanks

So.... does that mean that there is no Student/Teacher
Office 2004 version for Windows? The reason behind my
follow-up here is that I just received a trial version of
MSO-S/T 2003 which is good through November 30. If there
is a new impending release for windows then I can wait to
buy it (since I can't upgrade once I do). Otherwise I'll
just buy the 2003 version now.

Thanks for your help.

Correct, there will not be an Office 2004 for Windows. Office 12 (the next
version of Office for Windows after Office 2003) was originally supposed to
be an all-new Office that would be released alongside Windows Longhorn (the
next version of Windows after Windows XP) and would run exclusively on
Longhorn, but after many delays and changes in plans, Microsoft has decided
to make Office 12 compatible with older Windows operating systems and it may
end up being more of an evolution rather than a revolution. Probably 2005,
but who knows.

Probably NOT 2005, but 2006. It is not even in alpha testing yet.
