If you're using Symantec/Norton AntiVirus, try disabling the
Office Plugin that comes with it. See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329820 "How to use Office
programs with the Norton AntiVirus Office plug-in" for more
information.
If you are using a Symantec-Norton protection product open the settings panel for that product and turn off the Office Plug in from
the Miscellaneous tab then restart the Office 2007 Beta2TR apps and see if you can open the files.
