Office 2007 Basic adding Office 2007 Home and Student's Powerpoint

My daughter's new Sony laptop for college came with Office 2007 Basic Version
pre-installed (actual version, not trial). This suite only has Word, Excel,
and Outlook 2007. She needs Powerpoint. I can buy Office 2007 Home and
Student for less than purchasing Powerpoint separately. Can I buy Office
2007 Home and Student but just install Powerpoint 2007 on a computer that
already has Office 2007 Basic Version installed. She would like to use
Outlook 2007.

Thanks

Thanks for the advice,
I ended up buying Office 2007 Home and Student version. I when to custom
install, and of course Microsoft has to make it complicated by giving you
options for each feature to (1) Run from my computer=feature without
subfeatures will be installed, (2) Run all from my computer=feature with all
subfeatures will be installed, (3) Installed on first use, and (4)
Unavailable=feature and/or subfeature will not be installed.

Here are my questions: (1) is there any reason to install any Office Shared
features or Office Tools since Office Basic is already installed?, (2) the
default would be to install Powerpoint to c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office.
Is there any reason to change that? I would think that would be proper and
no different than if I had bought the stand-alone version of Powerpoint.

Thanks

(1) I would. It is always good to have and you never know when you need it
(2) No
