Thanks for the information paul. But that is the incorrect informatin you
gave. I think this screen shot as posted in the link is for office wide
settings. I tried the setting that you said and clear type is still on.

Hi Jarid,

The Office 'clear type' option setting is separate from the one in Windows. For the Windows XP setting right click on your desktop,
choose Properties=>Apperance=>Effects.

However, having said that, be aware also that the new system default font, Segoe UI that is included with Office 2007 Beta and in
Windows Vista is optimized for clear type and may, therefore appear a bit different than the other fonts.

Then again, for some of us, it all looks the same until we put glasses on <g>.

Be sure to use the Office 2007 feedback tool from the link below to send your comments directly to the MS Office team including the
'why' you want a setting changed/explained or made easier to find.

Thanks for the information bob.

I have clear type turned off in my display settings. I have also turned it
off in word and outlook for creating emails and creating word documents. But
it really bugs me in my outlook for my folder listings that it is still the
clear type font style. I dont know where that link to that screen shot came
from that I posted but I would sure like my office fonts to look like they
did when I was running office 2003 pro again.

Well I found a solution to my outlook issue. Here is what I did.

Went into C:\WINDOWS\Fonts and deled SEGOEUII,SEGOEUI,SEGOEUIB and SEGOEUIZ.
I did this and my text reverts back to original outlook fonts. Now I just
have to figure out how to change my default font back to arial in word b/c I
dont like that default font.

Do you think I would have to delete the default font as well. I cant find
anywhere in the word options to change it to arial. I have herd some people
delete there normal.dot and when it is recreated that it is default to arial.

REgards,

Never mind figured it out. :) I wish they could make things a little more
easier to configure in this new version of office. Either then the clear type
issue (deleting the fonts) and this office word default font/size issue. I
have yet to have any issues with office 2007 beta 2.

I do not have Office 2007 but I tried turning off Clear Type on
my flat screen monitor running Windows XP Professional at
1280x1024. Text was definitely harder to read when Clear Type
was *off* so I have restored it. There does not appear to be any
"tuning" ability with my system.

Hi James,

Even without Office 2007, see if the link to the Clear Type Tuning download (and online version) in this article helps.
