Office 2007 Beta 2 Install Failure

P

PaulH2

Hi,

I've downloaded Beta 2 of Office 2007 Pro Plus (other products still
downloading). When I try to install (using OPPLUS-EN.EXE) I get a message box
asking "Do you wish to proceed with the installation?". Obviously, I click
Yes, the message box then closes and nothing else happens, no error message,
nothing.

If anybody has any suggestions, I'd be grateful!

I'm running Windows XP Pro x64 with IE 7 beta 2.

Just in case the file was corrupted, I've downloaded it again, but with the
same result, so unless anybody has any suggestions, I guess I'm stuck...

Hi Paul,

The present 2007 Office Beta 2 isn't specifically a 64 bit one. Are you installing in 64 bit mode? Do you get the same result in
32 bit?

If you use Start=>Run
%temp%
to go to the Office setup log files does it have information on what point it stopped?

(I'm assuming you're logged in as Administrator when installing).

Thanks Bob,

In the temp directory, the installation creates a OWP10.tmp directory and
that is all (that directory is empty). It looks like, after the message box
closes, another dialog box opens very briefly, but closes immediately. I just
see a very brief flash, but it isn't up long enough to see what it says.

Yes, I am logged in as administrator.

I'm installing in 64-bit, how would I go about trying in 32-bit (I've tried
setting compatability mde for the installer to Windows XP, but had the same
result)?
