Office 2007 Beta 2 Technical Refresh Installation Issues

C

Chad B

So far i'm really enjoyig Office 2007 Beta 2. So the technical refresh has
been something that i have been very much eagerly awaiting!

I downloaded the TR file and tried to patch my Beta 2 install, but having
double clicked the file, my machine appears to be doing something for all of
3 seconds, and then nothing happens.

I checked the processes while trying this for a second time and the tr setup
process launches for a few seconds, and then it disappears.

I've followed all the steps in the trouble shooting file, yet i'm still
having this issue. Can someone please help out? I am really stuck and i
haven't found anything that seems to help me with this problem!

Thanks.

I get precisely the same with Office 2007 B2, it used to install just fine
and now it wont install with RC1 or even when I reinastall the PC with Vista
B2 July Edition (which it formerly ran perfectly well).

I get precisely the same error that Chad appears to get. Doing a trawl on
the Internet it appears to be a widespread problem. Is there a time period
that the Beta is only valid for?

Cheers,

Lionel

Hmmm, ok well in that case is there a really basic thing I am or am not
doing? These are brand new installs of Vista July and RC1 that I have tried.
The Cursor says the app is busy for about 3-4 seconds after you select
"setup.exe" from the CD pop-up window then nothing. The Setup.exe Application
stays in memory, builds up to 24MB then disappears.

I am using the installs from the MSDN Downloads. Vista Installs fine each
time with no failures.

BTW it may be worth noting that the Event view shows no entries at the time I
run the Setup.exe program.

I've received two emails with reports and log about this issue so far.
I've sent them on to Microsoft and I am waiting to hear back from them.
I'll post back once I know anything.

Send me an email with the log file. You can find the steps to create it
in the troubleshooting KB linked from my website. If it looks like the
same error that others have gotten, I have a few things for you to try
out.
