Office 2007 beta installation problem

Krishna

Hello,
I installed office 2007 successfully. However, since the system was very
slow, I uninstalled it and went back to 2003. I then upgraded my memory, and
tried to install 2007 again. This time, it extracts the files successfully
and the office 2007 comes up and when I click on upgrade, it comes up with an
error message of "office installation encountered an error". When I look at
the setupexe.log file, I see the following error -
LIS: creating download package "{30120000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}-C"
Error: Failed to create download: cannot get or load download from the given

hi Krishna,

Let us know if these steps help:
===========
1. Backup your PC/files for safety.

2. Use Start=>Programs=>Accessories=>Disk Cleanup
clear your Internet files and temp files.

3. Restart the PC. You may want to set a restore point.

4. Locate your 2007 Office Professional Beta 2
download file and note the folder/path location.

5. Create a new folder on your PC and note that
folder/path location.

6. Use Start=>Run , and on a single line, type in
the following (using the path & file names from
Step 4 & Step 5, above)

"drive:\Step2PathOfDownload\downloadfilename.exe" /extract:"Step3path"

example: If saved your download in a '\downloads' folder and then created a new empty folder named Off2007ProB2CD1 to hold the
Office 2007 CD image that you're about to create, then the Start=>Run line would look like this sample

"c:\downloads\OPPLUS-EN.EXE" /extract:"C:\Off2007ProB2CD1"

7. If the extraction is successful (you'll get a dialog box telling you it was after a few minutes). Shut down all running apps,
utilities, email, messengers, and antivirus.
Now double click Setup in your new Office 2007 CD image folder.

Or, if the extraction in step 6 does not succeed then
the Office 2007 download may be damaged/corrupted. To help determine that usse Start=>Run and type
%temp% {enter key}
then locate in that folder the the Setup.exe(xxxxxxx).log
(file) just created (check the date and time if there are several) and see if that log file yields has any clues on where the
extraction failed.

Post back with the results either way please.

Bob-

Don''t know about Krishna, but I don't have any registry cleaner
installed on my system, and I did did have office 2k3 pro installed a
the time I orginally installed the beta. When I tried to reinstall th
beta, (after a CLEAN) uninstall, I got the EXACT same errors in m
errorlog. I've tried to uninstall office 2k3 pro and install the bet
fresh (after removing all reference to office 12 in my registry an
removing the folders from my microsoft common and username\applicatio
data\local settings and other related OS folders. The beta still wil
not install. You get to entering the key code ID and then it jus
stops with an "apology" dialog. After the failed installation, th
%temp% setuplog(xxxxxxxxxx) file says exactly what Krisha's says.

I've since reinstalled office 2kpro up to sp2 with no problems.

Thanks

I had exactly the same problem, and in fact, I have used a registry
cleaner. What could be the problem in using it ?

Thanks a lot.

Hi,
Yes, this was on a machine that had office 2003. I installed 2007 beta,
then did a clean uninstall and installed 2003 again. Then I tried to
reinstall 2007 beta and that failed withthe problem above.

Yes, I have a registry cleaner. I did use it in between the 2007 beta
uninstall and reinstall.
Would that cause a problem?
Thanks,
Krishna

Let us know if these steps help:
===========
1. Backup your PC/files for safety.

2. Use Start=>Programs=>Accessories=>Disk Cleanup
clear your Internet files and temp files.

3. Restart the PC. You may want to set a restore point.

4. Locate your 2007 Office Professional Beta 2
download file and note the folder/path location.

5. Create a new folder on your PC and note that
folder/path location.

6. Use Start=>Run , and on a single line, type in
the following (using the path & file names from
Step 4 & Step 5, above)

"drive:\Step2PathOfDownload\downloadfilename.exe" /extract:"Step3path"

example: If saved your download in a '\downloads' folder and then
created a new empty folder named Off2007ProB2CD1 to hold the
Office 2007 CD image that you're about to create, then the Start=>Run
line would look like this sample

"c:\downloads\OPPLUS-EN.EXE" /extract:"C:\Off2007ProB2CD1"

7. If the extraction is successful (you'll get a dialog box telling you
it was after a few minutes). Shut down all running apps,
utilities, email, messengers, and antivirus.
Now double click Setup in your new Office 2007 CD image folder.

Or, if the extraction in step 6 does not succeed then
the Office 2007 download may be damaged/corrupted. To help determine
that usse Start=>Run and type
%temp% {enter key}
then locate in that folder the the Setup.exe(xxxxxxx).log
(file) just created (check the date and time if there are several) and
see if that log file yields has any clues on where the
extraction failed.

Yep. I posted this solution last night here:

http://www.microsoft.com/office/com...b138-4ad9-bcca-f70ef272b2ab&lang=en&cr=US&p=1

Each of the GUIDs above correspond to a different office 2007 app, and
office 2007 itself.

Here is why you could not reinstall: The error was being caused by the
LIS
(local installation source) not being where the registry said it should
be.
The actual error (HResult: 0x80070002) means that the installer could
not
find the files. If you delete the references to them in the registry
then
the installer will not look for cached copies in the LIS during
installation
and you will be able to push through with no problems.

Seems like the installer will glitch from time to time and leave these
entries behind. When the files from MSOcache are removed by the
installer
and you try to reinstall, the installer is trying to load the cached
files it
thinks exists. Because they do not exist, the installer throws an
exception.

“Catalyst execution finished: 06/01/2006 19:49:58. Return code: 0.
Exception caught: HResultOnly.”

And you get the friendly “An error occurred during the installation
and
Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 (Beta) setup was unable to
complete.”
Error message.
