office 2007 beta internet connection

Yesterday i received the email from microsoft kindly allowing me to download
the office 2007beta. i have installed it on my office computerin university
and have disabled all firewalls. my internet connection is fine [and fast! :)
] but word2007 and presumably all other office 2007b products, says it can't
find an internet connection so the number of times i can run it is counting
down... :( any idea what might be wrong? windows updates works fine on this
machine all the time so it [work2007b] should be able to contact microsoft
without any trouble....
heeelllpppp!

I get the same issue. My desktop worked fine, however when I loaded it onto
my acer laptop 1683 wlmi the activatiion failed. I used the same process to
install on both.

didnt find this list of problems earlier. seem's i'm a small voice in a
multitude :p
i'm sure microsoft will sort things out soon else they wouldn't have allowed
us to try the product in the first place. just don't close word down and use
hibernate on your pc as much as possible if you close down. that way you'll
maximise the times you can use word.....

If I keep Word and Outlook running, my PC will suffer of work overload and
refuse to do anything else. That's worse than not having Office working
properly...

download AMD 64bit 4000 or may 2 gig of ram..... you can close documents in
word and just leave the shell running to minimise its presence...

I have tried several times and confirmed that the activation service is down.

Constructive feedback:

Microsoft please tell us something!
Microsoft please make a more informative message if your servers are down!

well, office is working for me. no i haven't been able to 'activate' it yet
but it is most pleasant :p not had any problems with it loading the current
state of my thesis, diagrams included. even converting them to word2007 has
revealed no problems at all. i can also say that embedded excel 3d graphs
that were sluggish to view in word 2003 are now a hell of a lot faster in
word2007! microsoft - impressive. would be pretty upset to lose this version
of office.
