Office 2007 Beta (office 12() DISASTER

R

ronc

I tried with success the Office 2007 which Microsoft offered me to try
last June. I have beeen working wth that version since then with no
complain ad quite happy about the looks and feels of this new version.
On the 16th of September (2 days ago) I received an email from the
Office site telling me to dowload and install the:

Beta 2 Technical Refresh
This is certainly the WORST thing I have ever done in my computing
life!

I cannot use my outook agenda and mail, a message comes out saying tha
tthere is no space, and a lot of other messages about wrong version,
etc.
No Office programs work anymore o funny things happen with Excel or
Word.
I have of course tried o un-installed the damned TR. Impossible. I have
alsos and logically tried to un-installed the lot of Office 12
(2007) with no success eiter. In the pannel Control the option to quit
Office 2007 remains quite with nothing happening.
I have ried tio re-installed the versxion I got in July, impossible I
am told that Office 12 is alredy installed!!!!!
I had to come back for my daily wotk to Office 2003 which I had left
installed in another dir. It works "comme-ci comme-çà!" and, of
course all the files with the new extensions of Office12 are not
recongnized. (xlsx, etc.) Outlook 2003 does not open at all and I canot
access my very important datas which, despite the daily Backups of tte
outlook files are quite useless, not being able to open the program.

On this particular machine ( my own and everyday computer) I would not
like to have to re-install everything because of this crazy update. It
would really be a disaster for me.

Maybe someone could kindly help me in trying to sort the problem out.
You just can imagine how gratefull I would be.
Hoping to hear from anybody,
ron

Since Office 12 is still beta, I made sure I installed on a computer that I
could wipe clean if necessary. It would make no sense to install on an
everyday machine when there is no support. If it were me, I would just
start all over.

I cannot help - I wish to goodness I could. My problem is very similar, but
with even more disastrous consequences.
I installed the Beta in August {but failed to place it into a different
directory} and then 4 days ago I decided that it was not for me so
uninstalled it .....
Now I cannot access ANYTHING in Office: not text docs, Excel, or - even more
serious - Outlook. I bought my computer with Office 97 Pro already installed,
and therefore do not have the original disks.
And when I gritted my teeth and attempted to re-instal 2007 Beta .... it
wouldn't install at all!
So I need help too, please

There is a bug in B2TR that doesn't allow you to open any documents when
you have Norton AntiVirus with the Office plugin installed. See my
website under File Not Found / File not Available for steps on how to
resolve this.
Do you get an error message?

Do you have a plan for when the beta expires? You may want to start
thinking about that now and not wait until it starts working in
reduced functionality mode.

Just so you know, there is no plan in the works to give everyone who
downloaded the Office 2007 beta a free copy when the release date
comes around.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.

B2TR will expire March 31, 2007. Reduced functionality means that you
can't save, print, use copy & paste, etc.

What does fair have to do with anything? Did Microsoft twist your arm and force you to download the beta?

After furious head scratching, robin asked:

| which is totally not fair as you see by my later post on Sept 20!
