Office 2007 beta - Search bug.

Gunter Schmidt

Search and replace will go in an endless loop

You can try it yourself with the new beta.

Make a new page
Make about five empty paragraphs (hit enter 5 times)
Insert one tab in the third paragraph (not an indention!)
Search for the tab (Ctrl+F) with the string '^p^t^p'
If it finds the string, replace it with '^p^p'
Watch how word tries endless.

Is there a newsgroup or bug reporting site for the office, which is more
appropriate?

regards,
Gunter

Hi Gunter,

Interesting, and reproducible. For feedback directly to the Office product team on Office 2007 Beta 2 you can use the 2007 feeback
tool from the link below. Posting in the newsgroups is also useful to help determine if it's a unique-to-you or repeatable issue.
