Office 2007 Beta Tech Refresh

Mem

I just installed the Beta technical refresh for Office, and now I can't open
any of my old files in Word or Powerpoint (probably notihing in any
application). I get an error message saying that my antivirus software may be
interfering. I turned it off and still no luck. Any suggestions? The Beta was
working fine before the update. Thanks,

Michelle

I have the exact same problem as do others, note the posts in the Excel forum
as well as here. I hope someone figures this out soon, as I've had to go
back to running Excel 2003 just to get anything done.

Thanks for your reply. Actually, it was the Norton Antivirus Office Plug-in
that was the issue. I had tried running a script to disable it, per a
different post's suggestion, but no luck. I didn't realize you could disable
the plug in easily on the Anti-virus menu though. Just a simple check box,
and it fixed the problem. Appreciate the info.

Can you tell me exactly what you did and whether it also helped Excel work?
I tried disabling the plugin to no effect.
Thanks!

I first just disabled Norton Antivirus' Auto-pretect, and that didn't help
(though I haven't yet tried turning it back on yet.) Then, I opened up Norton
and clicked Options. Under the Miscellaneous menu, there is an option to
disable the Office plug-in. After I did this, Ppt and Word worked again.
Excel works too (I hadn't tried Excel before, but would assume a similar
problem was occurring in Excel.) Hope this is helpful.

I had the exact same problem and did exactly the same thing and everything
seems fine now.
