Office 2007 Beta

Well I must admit, it sure looks pretty from what I've seen. But I
can't activate the product. I've got an internet connection, be it
behind a router so connecting isn't the issue. And I've disabled my
software firewall, with still no success

I've seen many people struggling with activating their products but
most of them were back in May. I'm a little late installing the beta
so if anyone has any ideas how to fix this, it would nice... otherwise
it'll be back to Open Source for me ;-)

Hi J.C.,

What is the security protocol setting for your router? That can also impact the ability for two way communications through the
activation wizard. It's basically a Windows rather than an Office limitation.

I'm having the same problem - I installed the Office 2007 beta (which
looks great) but when I try to activate, it doesn't succeed and I get
the same error. I've tried at least 8 times, including with my
software firewall turned off, and always seen the same result.

Sorry for asking a simple question, but what do you mean by "the
security protocol setting for my router"? The router's incoming
firewall is configured to "Block Anonymous Internet Requests", "Filter
Multicast", and "Filter IDENT(Port 113)", and its VPN passthrough is
configured to enable IPSec, PPTP, and L2TP passthrough. (It's a
LinkSys WRT54GS.) Any suggestions?

Thanks for the hint about the color schemes, Patrick; I like the silver
scheme.

Activation servers seem to have trouble currently. Try again tomorrow.

Right after sending my previous post, I tried it again (with my
software firewall on) and it activated - I guess it is simply a matter
of patience while they work on their activation servers.
