Office 2007 - Book Recommendation?

C

CWLee

I'm a long-time user of Office 2000 (Word and Excel only)
who just purchased a new computer with Vista Ultimate and
Office 2007 (Home and Student Version). I'm looking for a
good book to make the transition from Office 2000 to Office
2007.

What books do you people recommend to buy, and which to
avoid? (I'm a fairly low-tech guy, meaning I'm a user of
software, not a modifier of it.)

Thanks, and best regards to all.

I would start here:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/getstarted/FX101055081033.aspx

And then see if you really need to purchase a book. The online training can be pretty comprehensive depending on what your skill level is and what specific program you require additional assistance in..

Thanks for your suggestion. I KNOW I want a book. My
learning style is such that I need a book in which I can
use, easily and quickly, both the table of contents and the
index to look for things, and in which I can place pieces of
paper as bookmarks and quickly and easily go back and forth
between pages -- all this while I'm reclining on my couch
with a pencil and tablet.

So, I'll keep your website on my favorites list, my first
line of attack will be a book I buy at Borders or Barnes &
Noble. The question is which book there is the best.

Thanks again.

I am partial to the Que books "Special Edition Using <insert program or suite here>" as the books are comprehensive, well laid out, and the authors all know their stuff.

Besides, I tech edited a couple of them and know the quality control that goes into making sure the information and steps are correct.

Oh, and depending on which programs you use most often, both Beth Melton and Herb Tyson have written excellent books on Word, either of which I would also recommend.
