Office 2007 Clean Install

I recently had to uninstall Office 2007 Plus because of performance issues.

I now want to perform a clean install but cannot. I performed as thorough a
job as possible of eliminating all OFFICE12 remnants from the registry, temp
files, etc., all in Safe Mode. I then downloaded a fresh copy of
OPPLUS-EN.EXE under Safe Mode, extracted the files to a CD, and upon
attempting setup was greeted with the following error message: "The language
of this installation package is not supported by your
system."

Ideas?

Just to add: Why didn't you download the opplus file outside safe mode
and just executed it to install Office 2007 directly? There is no need
to download the file in safe mode and burn it to a CD.
Just download it while Windows is working normally and then run it.

I've done that and it didn't work either. The installation simply aborts and
asks if I want to submit an error report.

I also tried extracting to a folder on my hard drive and when executing
setup there I get yet another error message: "Setup could not find any
available products to install. Please contact your system administrator."

I can't think of anything else then than using System Restore and
restoring your system to a point in time prior to you trying to clean it
off 12. I am pretty sure that your manual cleaning frenzy didn't help.
Maybe you can restore it to the point prior to installing 12 the first
time?

Thanks for the information Patrick, but using System Restore at this point
would cause more harm than good as I install software on this PC frequently.

Have you tried redownloading the file?
If you get the Windows Install Clean Up utility from MS, does it still
list any Office 12 packages? If yes, remove them.

I've done it all Patrick including using the MS WICU utility. My next stop is
MS itself. Thanks.

They won't help you as beta versions are explicitly excluded from tech
support. Did you make any backups before going on the clean-up frenzy?

I got through by phone on an IE7 Beta issue & just contacted the tech that
helped me via email.

He is probably going to tell you that Office 2007 Beta won't be tech
supported (it says so on bold on the page where you downloaded it).
