Office 2007 Compatability

I installed Office 2007. When I try to open documents or excel files that I
previously wrote in Office 2003, I get a message that the file "is not
available". I think a setting is wrong or add-in is missing. Anybody know a
fix???? Thanks.

Are you using Office Button=>Open from inside the Office 2007 apps to go directly to the document/file rather than to a shortcut to
the file?

Yes. I've used the Office 2007 button and tried clicking on the file. Same
outcome. I know there is nothing wrong with the files because I can open
them on my office computer that still has Office 2003.

If you use Symantec/Norton AntiVirus, try disabling the Office Plugin
that comes with it, but don't disable Norton AutoProtect. See
