Office 2007 compatible with Office 2003

I am looking at buying Office 2007 and would like to know if the files from
2003 will be compatible and work in 2007.
The reason I am asking is I was trying to run a tutorial for Access 2003 and
the sample files would not open I kept getting a message relating to having
an earlier version of Acess. When I checked the properties I discovered that
the computer I was trying to use had Office 2000 installed on it.
My concern is that my database files will not open and run if I upgrade to
office 2007. Please advise
Thank you

Office 2007 reads all early version files.
Though with Acess you may have used vba code that requires modifying
2007 can also create Access files in earlier format

I'm not sure whether you are using an Access2k db, if so the same vba
conflicts may occur when using Access 2003. Modifying any code is usually a
fairly simple process, depending on the complexities of your origonal
coding.
