Office 2007 - configuring every time I open a document

Office 2007 has to "confiure" every time I open the first Word or Excel
document in a session. This is very irritating and wastes considerable time.
It may also happen in other apps, but these two are the only ones I'm sure
of. Outlook does not seem to have this problem.

Any way to make Office quit doing this?
