We are attempting to roll out Office 2007 to 200+ computers in our office. We
are using a customized .msp file we created using the OCT. The computers we
are upgrading already have Office 2003 SP3 and have identical images of XP
SP3.
When the install goes correctly, it will silently run the upgrade in the
background and not require a restart. Depending on the speed of the machine,
10-15 minutes later Office 2007 will be installed and working properly.
On some (not all) machines, the setup will prompt the user for a restart.
After the restart, the office 2007 setup screen will appear, say "Please Wait
While Office 2007 Configures your Computer," and prompt for another restart.
After this restart, Office 2007 will be installed as expected. Why does it
work on some computers, and not others?
Note: All machines are running the same version of XP, have the same
updates, etc. I have tested this same install on two identical machines with
fresh XP images with different results. Any input anyone would have on the
issue would be appreciated. Thanks!
