Office 2007 Cumulative Update for April 2009

I am attempting to resolve the problem of opening Office documents from a
forms authenticated sharepoint site. I found an MSDN article
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb977430.aspx which says I need to
install the Office 2007 Cumulative Update for April 2009. Ater wading through
the microsoft update maze I determined that I needed to install the Mso.msp
available from KB969413. I requested and received the hotfix and attempted to
install it.

Unfortunately, I receive a message saying "The expected version of the
product was not found on the system." I am running Microsoft Office
Professional Plus 2007 (12.0.6316.5000) SP1 MSO (12.0.6425.100).

Does anyone know why the hotfix cannot find my Office installation?

This won't help you solve your problem specifically, but I'm having an
identical problem but with a different update. (See message subject "Update
kb952142 Won't Install"). So this might be a more general problem with Office
Updates rather than either of our specific updates.
