Office 2007 Development. Big Deal or Ho-Hum?

I couldn't attend any of the recent Microsoft events and perhaps it is too
early to ask what the scope of this topic may or may not be. I don't see
much discussion about the scope of using the .NET Framework to develop new
types of Office 2007 applications or add-ins yet.

Is Microsoft blowing smoke or will Office 2007 really be a big deal this
time?

VSTO 3.0 June preview CTP is available for download from the msdn website.
There still isn't much discussion about it yet, not even in the VSTO forum.
Until Office goes to RTM, I don't think there will be a "real beta" for VSTO
3...

As I understand it, this will give us the ability to create managed code
addins for most Office 2007 apps. AND it won't require a SHIM. Plus, it's
supposed to have interfaces for working with RibbonX, ContentControls in
Word, etc.

Whether it's a "big deal" is a question of what's important to you :)

If you are interested in some of the RibbonX stuff (UI modifications for
the ribbon apps), check out the blog on my website.

Thanks Cindy and Patrick.
I went through other news articles here last night and found your blog
Patrick and will get busy with it. Thanks for that effort...
