Office 2007 Enterprise Version

I'v tried to install this version and currently have office 2003 installed.
setup runs ok key is accepted but just before finishing I get an error
message error 1404 cannot delete registry entry software/classes... with no
other info. when I abort setup it completey hoses my machine and I have to
use system restore through safe mode to get it back running again. Works fine
after restore. Anyone have any insight here? I bought it under my companies
HUP program so I know its a legal copy.

I suggest that you get in touch with the IT person at the Company where you purchased the Office Enterprise Edition.
They are the ones that are able to help you out with the Enterprise Edition of Windows

Thanks for the response. I will be contacting our IT group. But I don't think
its that type of problem unless they can tell me what registry entry under
software/classes needs to be deleted. You would think that microsoft would be
able to jump in here and give the answer but I guess they already got their
money. They don't even bother to explain what error 1404 means on their
developers web site.

This newsgroup and server is not monitored by Microsoft. This is a peer to peer newsgroup. Apart from that the Enterprise Edition of Office that you purchased from the company that you work for was purchased under the Home User plan. The company is the one that holds volume license for this version of Office.

If anything your Company is the one that needs to contact Microsoft for issues concerning the Enterprise Edition

This Edition (version) is not sold to the general public and can only be purchased through a Company Plan.

Hi Ricko,

Assuming you have Admin rights when doing the install then the information in the Office setup log files you can locate using
Start=>Run and type in %temp%
should also include the error message with the key listed.

The procedure in http://suppport.microsoft.com/kb/325316
may be helpful for resolving the 1404 error.
