Office 2007 Enterprise w/ "For Non-Commercial Use Only" banner.. ?

If have a laptop running Vista Bus w/ Office 2007 Enterprise installed (as
per "Program And Features). With this particular installation of Office,
when you open any of the programs (Word, etc...) the top Window Bar displays
"Untitled - For Non-Commercial Use Only".

I do not understand as I thought Enterprise edition was the full commercial
version? Microsoft's website does clearly provide a contact for licensing
questions. Any suggestions or explainations?

Enterprise may be purchased though the home use program from a commercial
company and that version can be used for commercial purposes. There is
another version that is the academic institution version that can only be
used for academic purposes and has a restriction for non-commercial purposes
similar to the Home and Student version of Office.

Where did you get the laptop with the Enterprise version installed?

See the following Microsoft web sites for further information:

http://www.microsoft.com/education/WorkHome.mspx (work at home use for
Academic Licenses)

From: http://www.microsoft.com/Education/DeployLicenses.mspx

The Microsoft Licensing Product Use Rights (PUR) document contains the
product-specific terms and conditions that govern how Microsoft products can
be used in the Volume Licensing programs. It is the equivalent of the End
User License Agreement (EULA) that you would receive when purchasing a
retail licensed product.

Interesting, I was of the understanding that the Home and Student/Teacher
editions were unique to themselves. When installed, they are listed as
"Home" or "Student Teacher" version specifically in the Add/Remove programs
applet. I also understand that the Home and Student/Teacher versions do not
include Access nor Groove.

Does this mean that I am to be corrected. If so, MS had better change their
website comparing the two:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/products/FX101635841033.aspx

As for the source of the Office license, I was incorrect. Someone from IT
loaded the office using our Enterprise volume license key.

Tomorrow I will unistall and reinstall. If this does not resolve the title
bar "For Non-Commercial Use", I will be back and append to this post.

1st, Enterprise Academic is compared only in the fact that they both can not
be used for commercial purposes. Of course the suites have different
features.

As for the non-commercial quote. One further thought. If Home and Student
trial was installed on the computer before installing Enterprise version,
that could make the entire Enterprise suite (especially the programs that
were in Home and Student) display the non-commercial message.

When you do your uninstall, make sure that you look for any other version of
Office on the computer and have it removed prior to the reinstall.

But the Academic licensed versions don't SAY "Not for Commercial Use"
anywhere - at least mine doesn't. The only difference is the Jewel case has
"Academic" round it in a band...

Thanks both LVTravel & Gordon.

LVTravel:
I will observe if any other instances of Office are installed and remove. I
did not observe upon initial inspection but will confirm during uninstall.

Gordon:
Thanks for the info. Not having access to Academic version, I had no
"argument" regarding the presence of the Non-commercial Use banner.

Will post the results here later today.

This has happened to a couple of our systems and usually results from
installing Office 2007 Pro using either an enterprise key or MAPS key
when there is a trial version installed by the OEM. The solution is to
un-install the OEM trial and then reinstall - or live with the
message.

And-- It may not go away until you uninstall bolh versions, run MS's cleanup
and reinstall the correct version.
Cheer up-- I had the problem on an HP laptop before the cleanup utility was
released, and had to manually remove hundreds of registry entries.

The uninstaller would mot run. I found I had a trial copy and my pro copy. I
did finally resolve the issue by being a bit unorthodox. When the
uninstaller would not run I used the Office uninstall tool available here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

It is NOT recommended for this task, but at this point I figured I had
nothing to lose. When running the tool, it showed I actually had three copies
of office 2007 on my computer the Pro Trial, my Pro full version and Home and
Student trial. The last one neverr showed up on my installed programs list.
My unsderstanding is the Home and Student version is the one causing the
problem. That said, I unitalled all office products with the tool, restarted
and reinstalled my full version of pro and it all worked.

I have had no problems of any kind since. Thanks for responding. I hope this
helps someone else out too.

I have the same problem with a twist. I have the OEM 2007 Office Pro Trial
on
my HP laptop and installed 2007 Office Pro Plus without removing the trial
version(silly me). I have the banner message "non-commercial use" and
NEITHER
version will uninstall nor will they update. It tells me it is acivated
and
genuine advantage has confirmed my legitimate copy. Any suggestions on how
to
rid myself of all copies and reinstall?
