Hi, I'm German/Australian, much of my correspondence is in German. Had so far
no problems with Office 2003 and proofing tools, but 2007 leaves me high and
dry!
When will the German and English language packs be available. It was said to
be in March, now we have April and no news or is there and I am only not
aware of it? Does anyone know? How would I be made aware of availability?

I just tried to purchase the German Language pack here and it made it to
the shopping cart. Which one are you trying to buy and when do you get
the error message?
Also, which website do you get redirected to when you press the Buy link
from Office Online?

Hi Hans,

I think this is related to you not being in the US. The link seems to be
specific to the United States. Can you try to go on
http://trymicrosoftoffice.com and see if there is any way for you to
navigate to the SLPs there?

Hi Patrick,
slowly I get the feeling that this is all a hoax because the Australian
website sends you to the following URL
http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/suites/FX102113661033.aspx which in turn
says that it is a wrong address.
I cannot see why I could not buy through the US Website. The funny thing is
that when I click the buy option in the US website I get connected to
http://buy1.trymicrosoftoffice.com/buyus/product.aspx?family=langpack&culture=en-US and the website itself talks about Trial Conversion
and that there is no product. It would surprise me if microsoft could make
so many stuff ups in just one matter.I think Microsoft are trying to pull the
wool over its customers eyes, they pretend to have a product which in fact
they dont.
One last try, could you perhaps give me the URL which gives you the shopping
cart.

I promise you that they have a product. I have been using the German SLP
with my US-English Office since November as it has been available to
MSDN/TechNet and volume license customers since then.
I'm asking around to see if someone can shed some light on what is going
on with the non-US stores here.

Patrick, thanks. I'm looking forward to your findings.

Hi Patrick,

did what you suggested and read this:

This site came up, when I entered the URL from your mail
http://us1.trymicrosoftoffice.com/ from this site I got to this one:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/default.aspx in this site I asked in
search for German language pack and got directed to this site:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/results.aspx?qu=german+language+pack here
I clicked the option:
Microsoft office language packs 2007.

and the result was:

http://office.microsoft.com/_servic.../suites/FX102113661033.aspx&aspxerrorcode=404
suggesting that I had misspelled the address
And that is why I think that there is something wrong and that in reality
they have no product!

Hi Patrick,
slowly I get the feeling that this is all a hoax because the Australian
website sends you to the following URL
http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/suites/FX102113661033.aspx which in turn
says that it is a wrong address.
I cannot see why I could not buy through the US Website. The funny thing is
that when I click the buy option in the US website I get connected to:
http://buy1.trymicrosoftoffice.com/buyus/product.aspx?family=langpack&culture=en-US and the website itself talks about Trial Conversion
and that there is no product. It would surprise me if microsoft could make
so many stuff ups in just one matter.I think Microsoft are trying to pull the
wool over its customers eyes, they pretend to have a product which in fact
they dont.
One last try, could you perhaps give me the URL which gives you the shopping
cart.

Hello Patrick [and everyone else who has been reading this exchange],

I have finally been successful in downloading the software through:
http://buy1.trymicrosoftoffice.com/buyus/product.aspx?family=langpack&culture=en-US
which led me to the australian site. It took then about 24hrs to get the
download going as it came again from the US [due to the time difference
between the countries], but now I have installed it successfully and it is
working fine. I found it astounding however how little the Australian side
[Microsoft AU]was aware of this feature and its availability.
Once again many thanks for getting involved.

You are welcome. It turned out that Office Online wasn't correctly set
up to redirect you to the appropriate store for your language. This is
either fixed by now or still being fixed.

Hans

Hello Patrick,

further to my last reply I have news, the US site all of a sudden allows me
to buy, however then comes the next hickup, it is limited to United States
and does not give the option to put in any other Country. The Australian
Website still give the error message of before so that I still cant buy it
[here].

:

I promise you that they have a product. I have been using the German SLP
with my US-English Office since November as it has been available to
MSDN/TechNet and volume license customers since then.
I'm asking around to see if someone can shed some light on what is going
on with the non-US stores here.

Hi Patrick,

did what you suggested and read this:

This site came up, when I entered the URL from your mail
http://us1.trymicrosoftoffice.com/ from this site I got to this one:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/default.aspx in this site I asked in
search for German language pack and got directed to this site:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/results.aspx?qu=german+language+pack here
I clicked the option:
Microsoft office language packs 2007.

and the result was:

http://office.microsoft.com/_servic.../suites/FX102113661033.aspx&aspxerrorcode=404
suggesting that I had misspelled the address
And that is why I think that there is something wrong and that in reality
they have no product!

:

Hi Hans,

The site is country specific. http://trymicrosoftoffice.com will send
you to a different server depending on your country. It seems though
that the link posted on the Office Online page links to the US server...

Hi Patrick,
slowly I get the feeling that this is all a hoax because the Australian
website sends you to the following URL
http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/suites/FX102113661033.aspx which in turn
says that it is a wrong address.
It would surprise me if microsoft could make
so many stuff ups in just one matter.I think Microsoft are trying to pull the
wool over its customers eyes, they pretend to have a product which in fact
they dont.
One last try, could you perhaps give me the URL which gives you the shopping
cart.

:

Hi Hans,

I think this is related to you not being in the US. The link seems to be
specific to the United States. Can you try to go on
http://trymicrosoftoffice.com and see if there is any way for you to
navigate to the SLPs there?

Hi Patrick,
this is the website comming up when I click
buy:"http://buy1.trymicrosoftoffice.com/buyus/product.aspx?family=langpack&culture=en-US.
there is no other option for selecting different packages opening up and the
response in this website is "Product not found".

:

I just tried to purchase the German Language pack here and it made it to
the shopping cart. Which one are you trying to buy and when do you get
the error message?
Also, which website do you get redirected to when you press the Buy link
from Office Online?

Hi Sonja,

Is the ISP you're using in the U.K.? The detection for sales of the Office Language and other Office 2007 products online is, as I
understand it, from the locale for your IP address. The German (Deutsch) single language pack is one of the ones available for U.K.
online purchase

Digital River, the folks who do the site and order processing for Microsoft for the online purchases are the probably the ones to
contact for help in getting the Office products via the online store. (There's usually a link to them at the bottom of the page).

=====================

Living in the UK we have the same problem, but once redirected to UK MS
website you cannot buy the product from there. We called Microsoft in
UK, but they seem never to have heard of the relevant Language Packs
and they gave me list of their authorised distributors who did not know
any more. Why is it not possible to just order from US site? When I
enter my address details in http://tinyurl.com/6dcxdu it asks us 'If
your country doesn't appear in selection box above, click here.'. Once
we have done this it sends us to UK store, which does not have product.
There must be a way to order the product, surely?
