Office 2007 hangs

Office 2007 has recently developed a problem on my XP-Home system. If I
click on the "Open" icon in either Word or Excel, then the application
hangs. I can only open existing documents from the "Recent Documents" list.
Also, I can "Save" a document but if I try to "Save As" then the system will
hang. I've tried uninstalling Office 2007 and reinstalling but the problem
persists. I've Googled and read several variations of the problem but no
clear solution. Office 2007 worked fine on this system for a long time. I
have noticed that in Word, the problem apparently disappears if I hit
Cntrl-P (bringing the print menu) then hitting ESC. After that I can "Open"
and "Save As" perfectly fine. For Excel, I can't find a work-around. I'd
like to solve this problem as it is quite debilitating to have Office
perform as poorly as it is. I have run Office diagnostics and had no
reported issues. I have also run Word in safe mode and the problem still
persists.

Can anyone offer assistance?

And before you ask, I did download and run the MS uninstall tool for SP3.
That did not diminish the problem.

Sorry, its getting late. My fault. I meant SP2, not SP3. I noticed the
problem after SP2 installed and I ran the uninstaller for SP2 and the
problem was still there.

What version of Office 2007. Is this a Retail or a Trial version of Office

Err "Retail" on it's own is NOT licensed for three machines unless it is a
retail version of Home and Student.

Whatever! It came with two Dells I purchased. It is licensed for 3
computers. Any suggestions on how to fix the problem I'm having with Office
2007?

If it came with your Dell ( 2 computers ) as you posted and you are experiencing
this issue with both then you have a Trial version of Office. Suggest that you
purchase Office at a Retail level

"Whatever" does not answer the question.
A friendly tip - it doesn't pay to be flippant with answers here because you
just waste the time of those who volunteer to help.
Did you PAY for this version of Office over and above what you paid for the
computers?
If not, then as Peter says, you have a TRIAL version, not a FULL version.

Answers!? What answers? These answers are crap!! I came here to get some
help for an issue (a very annoyiong issue in which I could get no work done
using Office 2007 which I've used for almost 2 years) and all I get are
shallow questions and the wordsmith police. I do not have a trial version
of Office 2007. I have a full version which I purchased along with two
laptops and yes I paid for it over and above the cost of the laptops. It
carries a license to install on three machines. Thanks so much for turning
a question about an issue concerning Office 2007 crashing on my system into
some finger pointing nonesense trying to incorrectly tell me which version
of Office I have. Here's a friendly tip - When you don't have a clue how to
help with an issue, stay out and don't try to degrade the matter into some
sort of drivel on a lower level. Try to approach the problem with the depth
in which the problem calls for. You gave no suggestions, no thoughts as to
what to do, just bantering about the type of Office when the issue is much
larger and then capitalizing TRIAL and FULL as if I can't read it otherwise
is useless and flippant all on your own.

After much focus and effort, I was able to at least bound the problem to
SP2. I will provide a separate post as to the steps I took to address this
problem in case others (and there are others) might find it hepful.

All these questions are for a reason. We do not have your computer in front of us
and we cannot read (understand ) your issue because you have posted vague answers.
Maybe to you it sounds like all the information but we need to know more.

When someone reverts to " Whatever" then it becomes even harder to answer and help

Take the time and read the following and then post back. Thank you
