Office 2007 Home and Student product activation

I purchased a computer with Office 2007 home and student pre-installed, I
have the product activation key but every time I try to activate the program
I get sent to the microsoft site and there I encounter nothing but errors.
Can anyone please help me how to activate this program?

What error messages are you receiving when you attempt to activate. Don't
paraphrase, exact wording please. Also, unless you paid extra for this
version of H & S it is a trial version that will last only 60 days from
activation date. Even with the errors that date may already have passed.
