Office 2007 Home and Student version

Hi, I just purchased a laptop with this on it. However, in reading I realize
that it does NOT come with Outlook? My 2003 version did, so I just assume
this one would. What do I do now for my email? I was hoping to network my
laptop and pc and be able to read emails on both? The system hasn't even
arrived yet. Thanks

First if the Office 2007 Home and Student on your new computer is a trial
version you should uninstall and purschase the retail version of Office 2007
edition of your choice from a source such as Amazon.com.

If the Office 2007 Home and Student on your new computer is not a trial
version, you can purchase a stand alone copy of Outlook 2007 from a source
such as Amazon.com for about $85 in US.

Your new computer with Vista includes Windows Mail {replaces Outlook
Express}, a calendar application and a contacts application. Depending on
how you use your new laptop, you may not need Outlook.

Thank you Don, The thing I like about my Outlook is that I can set reminders
that pop up and tell me when I need to do something. Does the Windows Mail
do that? Also, is there a way if I am networking these two that I can see
the old emails in Outlook? or transfer them to the Windows Mail?

Vista Windows Mail does not support reminders, but Vista Windows Calendar
does. As with Outlook, Windows Calendar must be open.

Windows Mail will import messages from Outlook, but I am not sure that it
will do so over a network. I am new at network. I just purchased a new
laptop and wireless access point an I am still setting the system up {today
is printer network setup day}. I have Office 2007 Professional on both
computers with Outlook but have not got to the point of moving messages
between the two Outlooks. Perhaps others can be more helpful.

Suggest you get your new compter and get your network setup and see how you
actually use it before deciding if you want to spend $85 to add Outlook
2007. If you decide to install Outlook later, you can inport any Windows
Mail messages.

If you have a retail version of Office 2003 and the Home and Student edition
on your new laptop is a trial version, you can remove it and install your
Office 2003 on your new laptop.

This presumes that you only used Office 2003 on one prior computer.

To use the same Outlook data on both computers, see these pages for some
ideas:
