Office 2007 Home & Student

I am going to purchase Office 2007 Home & Student. I have a few files I made
in Microsoft Works 9.

Two questions:

1. What is the latest program version out?

2. I know I can Open all appropriate files created in Works by Opening them
in the appropriate program (Ex: Open a Spreadsheet program created in Works
Spreadsheet by running Excel and 'clicking' the Open button from that
program as opposed to just finding the program and 'double-clicking' it to
open automatically, usinf Windows Exploere, etc.) but will it Save them in
appropriate Programs with the appropriate programs file extension?
(Redundant? Sorry.)

(I plan to Save the Works programs to a CD and uninstall Works prior to
installing Office.)

You cannot save the 'Works Programs' to cd, unless by that you mean save the
works docs/data

If you open a works produced file in Office when you save it, a new file
will be saved in the appropriate Office component format.
