Brand new ASUS VX2 laptop Win Vista Ultimate 32 bit
Try to install office 2007 Enterprise (this is a DVD sent by MS, purchased
thru my company's home use agreement with MS.)

Receive Error: 'Setup cannot continue because a required file is either
corrupted or not available. Run Setup again from the original source disc or
download location.'

looked in the setup log.

Does this mean anything to you:

I'm glad I found this post, because my problem is very similar, but
unfortunately, I also don't have an answer. I also have a new ASUS (G2S)
running Ultimate 32 bit. I bought Office 2007 Ultimate edition (the
educational license, to save money). Now when I try to install it, I get the
exact same error message-'Setup cannot continue because a required file is
either corrupted or not available. Run Setup again from the original source
disc or download location.' I know for sure that this configuration works
because I've already installed the same Office on the same laptop, registered
it and was able to use all the programs. Then, for another reason, I had to
reinstall Vista, and since then, I can't reinstall Office.

I'm glad I found this post, because my problem is very similar, but
unfortunately, I also don't have an answer. I also have a new ASUS (G2S)
running Ultimate 32 bit. I bought Office 2007 Ultimate edition (the
educational license, to save money). Now when I try to install it, I get the
exact same error message-'Setup cannot continue because a required file is
either corrupted or not available. Run Setup again from the original source
disc or download location.' I know for sure that this configuration works
because I've already installed the same Office on the same laptop, registered
it and was able to use all the programs. Then, for another reason, I had to
reinstall Vista, and since then, I can't reinstall Office.

Hello, very annoying, I just bought a Asus Z53Sseries Core2Duo with
VistaPremium, and also office 2007 enterprise. I uninstalled the pre-
installed office 2007 and tried to run the setup.
But got the same error message: "'Setup cannot continue because a
required file is either corrupted or not available. Run Setup again
from the original source disc or download location.'"
Could that pre-installed be a problem, was it really uninstalled, I
stil see for example a "activation manager".

This problem has nothing to do with faulty discs or isos.
There may be different situations when you get this error.
I also have a Asus laptop and it has Nero 7 Essentials preinstalled with
InCD.

I got this error when trying to install Office 2007 Enterprise.
I stopped the INCDSrv (InCD Helper) service and then it worked.

You can stop it in the taskmanager or controlpanel -> administrative
tools -> services.
