Office 2007 Installation Problem!!!

Asif

Hi,
I just downloaded office 2007 Beta 2 from the office 2007 preview site. When
I tried to install it on my computer that runs Windows XP, I have got an
error which says that "Failed to cache resource esetupui.dll." Now what
possibly could be the reason for showing this error. Please help me.
I tried removing all the temporary files and tried to do a fresh setup but
still am getting the same error? And besides, when office extract the setup
files there is only a file called "osetupui.dll" but setup searches for
"esetupui.dll."

Thank You,
Asif.

It looks like you aren't alone.

I found the following (by googling) from out illustrious and resourceful Bob
Buckland ?:)

Are you also running the MS Expression Web Designer (EWS) preview?
If so, they use Esetupui.dll in place of the Office 2007 Osetupui.dll. If
you're using Expression Web Designer be sure it's the
newer preview release from the end of may for it to be compatible with the
Office 2007 beta.

If you have the most recent version of EWD then the setup routines may be
getting confused and you may want to try these steps to
install Office 2007. Basically it extracts an Office 2007 CD image from the
download in the necessary file/folder structure so you
can then run setup from that location rather than from the download.

===========
1. Use Start=>Programs=>Accessories=>Disk Cleanup
clear your Internet files and temp files.

2. Locate your 2007 Office Professional Beta 2
download file and note the folder/path location.

3. Create a new folder on your PC and note that
folder/path location.

4. Use Start=>Run , and on a single line type in
the following (using the path & file names from Step 2 & 3)
and leaving out the brackets

"drive:\Step2PathOfDownload\downloadfilename.exe" /extract:"Step3path"

example: (assuming you saved to a 'downloads' folder and created a new
folder named Off2007ProB2CD1) the Start=>Run line would look
like this

"c:\downloads\OPPLUS-EN.EXE" /extract:"C:\Off2007ProB2CD1"

If the extraction is successful (you'll get a dialog box telling you it was
after a few minutes) then run setup from your new 2007
Office folder. (Be sure to backup your files and shutdown all other
running apps including antivirus software before starting 2007 Office setup)

If the extraction doesn't succeed then the download may be
damaged/corrupted.
Use Start=>Run and type
%temp%
and locate the Setup-xxxxx.log
(file) just created and see if it has any clues on where the extraction
failed.
