Office 2007 introduced bug to clipboard

Ever since installing Office 2007 I have noticed a bug with the clipboard:
quite frequently (several times a day) I will copy a snippet of text to the
clipboard (CTRL+C or CTRL+X), will type some text, then when I hit CTRL+V to
paste I get not what I had cut/copied but what I just typed.

If you start Word in Office safe mode (hold ctrl key when starting Word 2007) do you get the same behavior?

If you go to Start=>Run and type
%temp% {enter}
and clear out that folder prior to starting Word do you get the same behavior?

It isn't only in Word - even pasting from one browser window to another
browser window shows the problem. The installation of Office 2007 is the
only change made to the system.
