Office 2007 journal - new added column/field doesnt print out

I create a journal for all phone calls in - and wanted to impose a number on
each item. I used mileage, as i was allowed to enter numbers here. It shows
on the list view, but when I open the actual jounal item, this numbr field or
column doesnt show anywhere, nor does it print it out. How can I do both
these things? why , if a field has been added does it not show on other views
of teh same journal. I did look online but cant see anysolutions. Please
help!
