Office 2007 Key

I purchased an Office 2007 CD and I installed it on my computer. 6 months
later my computer died. How do get Microsoft to restore the product key so I
can install Office 2007 on my new computer? Or can I simply just install
Office 2007 on my new computer.

Thanks,

Simply install on new, ensure any trial together with activation assistant
is uninstalled, then rebooted, first

Thanks,

If you purchased a retail version of Office you can install it using the key
that was provided on the packaging. If this was a CD from an OEM
installation of Office it can not be transferred to another computer. If
you have a installation key label look in the lower right corner of the
label for a three letter combination. If FPP it can be reinstalled. If OEM
or MLK it is OEM and can not. If you key is on an email you received then
it will tell you what version you have as to OEM or retail.

The 3 letter combination is FPP. How will Microsoft recognize that I am not
copying the software on another computer. I want to make sure I get
automatic updates. Doesn't Microsoft has to release the product key since it
was already registered as being installed on a computer.

Thanks

It doesn't matter. You have a retail version and unless it has been less
than 180 days (IIRC) you will be able to install and more importantly
activate online without any issue. MS allows the transfer of a license like
you have under certain conditions without problems. At the worst, you will
have to use telephone activation which is again, relatively painless. The
number will be provided on the screen if online activation fails.`
