Office 2007 Mail Upgrade

Sam

A friend has a notebook with VISTA HOME BASIC and Office 2007 student.
Recently he gets a nag screen asking him to upgrade from Outlook to
Miscrosoft Mail.
What's up with that? He has another PC on his home network that is loaded
with XP Home and Outlook from Office 2003. Should he upgrade to Mail?

thanks,

sam

Firstly 2007 Home and Student doesn't contain Outlook.
Secondly I suspect your friend is getting nag screens to update from
Windows Mail (which comes with Vista) to Windows LIVE Mail.....

I haven't seen his PC in a week, but it's got anb email client installed,
which i think, is outlook.
is VISTA mail a replacement for Outlook? Sorry, I've xp pro installed not
vista.

thanks,

Windows Mail is the new incarnation of Outlook Express and is installed by
default with Vista
I dont believe Windows Mail is available to earlier versions of Win
Windows Live Mail is something different and I believe is the replacement
for Express & Windows Mail

Not if he's got Home and Student version of Office unless he bought it
separately, or has an older version.

Vista (or Windows to give it it's proper name) Mail is a replacement for
Outlook Express (which is NOT the same as Outlook) which in turn has
been superceded by Windows Live Mail...
