Office 2007 Missing Fonts

T

Tiburon

I recently installed Windows 7, and so had to re-install Microsoft Office
2007 (Standard). Everything seemed to go smoothly, but I have just discovered
that my computer has absolutely none of the fonts that are supposed to be
included with Office, per this page from Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/typography/fonts/product.aspx?PID=148

For example, one of my assignments for a computer-based class I'm taking
asked me to use Gill Sans MT for my document, but I couldn't, despite the
fact that it is supposed to be included with Office according to the site.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office, but that did not work. I also
looked under all of the optional features under 'Installation Options,' but I
do not see anything about Fonts, even under 'Office Shared Features.'

Is there a specific directory on my Office CD I can look for all of these
fonts in? What else can I try?

Thank you very much in advance for any help you can provide.

Do you have a printer installed? If not, then you will see a limited
selection of fonts.

However... if you're not seeing Fonts under Office Shared Features, then
there might be an additional problem--since that's where it resides. Try
this:

Click the Start button, type Programs, and click on Programs and Features.
There, find Microsoft Office 2007, click on it, the click Change, Add or
Remove Features, Continue. Expand Office Shared Features, and see if Fonts
is checked. If it's not there, then there's some additional problem.

I do have a printer installed, but the fonts aren't even showing up in the
Fonts browser in Windows. I double-checked the settings under Office Shared
Features, and indeed, there is no option for Fonts.

This is just weird because I know I had these in Vista, so they have to be

I did a quick search on my installation CD for *.ttf and found 443
True Type Fonts.
I suggest you do the same and install what you want unless someone
comes up with another option.

To actually find the ttf files (in Windows 7), in Windows Explorer, Tiburon
will need to choose Tools - Folder Options - Search tab, and [at least
temporarily] enabled Always search file names and contents (to force it to
search non-indexed locations); make sure that these items are checked:

Include subfolders

Find partial matches

Include compressed files

I found a number of ttf files in a cab file:

Ultimater.WW\UltrWW.cab

But, I don't know if the same folder name is used in other versions of
Office 2007.

But, I find it extremely odd that the Font item is MIA under Office Shared
Features, particularly since fonts were installed okay under Vista
(presumably using that same installation CD).

I went ahead and did a search on the CD using all of those settings, but
nothing at all came up. I went ahead and found a similar directory on the CD
(just with Standard instead of Ultimate), but the only fonts in there were
the very basic ones that I already have (Calibri, Cambria...), and there were
definitely not 400+. The less common ones on the Microsoft list (Agency,
Algerian, Bauhaus, etc.) were nowhere to be found.
