Office 2007 multilevel lists and tab key

I create a lot of lists through office word, and for a while had no problems
increasing or decreasing the tab for different bullets using the tab key and
the backspace key, but then suddenly that stopped working. I have no idea
what changed this, but now I have to physically go to the "increase indent"
or "decrease indent" tab on the toolbar in order to do so, meaning I have to
take my hands off the keyboard and am thus slowed down. I have seen solutions
for this problem with earlier versions of word, but none for the 2007
version. If anyone could help me I would really appreciate it, you would be
saving me a lot of time and a lot of annoyance!

In Word 2007, click on Office button | Word Options | Proofing |
AutoCorrect Options | AutoFormat As You Type tab | check the "Set left-
and first-indent with tabs and backspaces" box.
