Office 2007 One Note Trial Install problems

My computer setup:
Windows Vista Business SP1
Office Professional Plus 2007

All are legitimate activated and working fine.

Today I tried to download and install One Note trial as it might be
useful for my work, and I'm seriously considering to purchase it any
time soon. But before buying wanted to give it a quick try first.

Downloaded no problem - the install file with name: X12-30151.exe
could run, but as soon as I clicked the "Allow access" and it started
running, it prompted an error message "the installation of this
package has failed".
Without giving me a reason why it had failed.

Searching the forums, there were 2 options: either I needed a .NET to
be installed or I had to run a Windows Cleaner application, which
would clean up all my Office installations.

As I'm not intending to mess about with my working Office application
that I'm using daily, I just want to install a trial of an additional
app, the cleaner is not an option for me.

So, I went to download .NET, 3.5 to be specific as it is the latest
available version and assuming it to be downwards compatible.
Downloaded and installed SP1 for .NET3.5 too, and rebooted my PC after
that.

Tried the installer for One Note 2007 trial again, and same error
message appeared.

Is there anyone who has experienced this problem and able to give me
suggestions on what to do to get it installed?

Should I install earlier .NET versions as well?

Thanks in advance for any help given!

Best regards,
Bianca

I decided to give it one more try... downloaded the installer and ran
it and it worked!
It's very strange - it seems that the first time it didn't completely
download the installer, the size of the file was slightly smaller than
the second time downloaded. Which is strange because the first time I
didn't get any error message on download. Difference: first time
downloaded using Firefox 3.0 browser, second time decided to try it
with IE7 instead...
But after first download I did try a run from the IE7 and that gave
the same error after downloading to temp and running.

Anyhow my problem is solved and running the One Note trial now.

Still puzzled to why I got the error in the first place!
