Office 2007 Pro installation on Vista

Joel Pratt

I am trying to install the TechNet ISO for Office 2007 Pro on to a Vista box.
I expanded the ISO, tried it from a network share, local folder, and CD and
I still get the following error..." Microsoft Office 2007 encountered an
error during setup" No more info, nothing relavant in the error logs.

Any ideas?

From your explanation I'm not sure if you burned a CD/DVD from the ISO or
from the expanded ISO. If you tried it from a CD/DVD burned from the ISO
then I would suspect the original ISO file is bad. Download it from TechNet
again and see what happens.

I have tried the following methods;
I downloaded both the 2007 Pro and 2007 Enterprise ISO.
I used ISO Buster to extract the ISO to a local directory and tried to
install.
I expanded the ISO to a Network location and tried installing from there.
I also wrote the ISO to DVD and install from that.
All produced the same error partway through the install.

You need to convert the ISO file. Use something like Nero or Roxio and convert the file. Try the install after with the converted file

I think we are calling the same process 2 different things. I am "converting"
the ISO to actual files by "Expanding" the ISO.
I have used this same process many times on other ISO's, inlcuding TechNet
ISO's.

I still think there is some confusion here and sorry if this is frustrating.
What Peter and I have asked is if you have used a burner program (I use
Roxio) to burn the CD directly from the ISO file. In Roxio there is a
specific menu choice that says "Burn disk from ISO file". There isn't any
separate "conversion" process...it's just that one step.

Have you downloaded the ISO again?
