Office 2007 Product Key

I purchased a product key for Office 2007 that I purchased on-line about 6-7
months ago. Unfortunately, my computer crashed 3 months later, and I bought a
new laptop - I want to use that purchased product key before the trial
version on my new computer runs out, but I cannot find it anywhere (can't
access it from my old laptop because it crashed) and I cannot find the disk
that I wrote the product code number (25 digit thing) anywhere, either. My
question: Is there any way to get this information on-line from the Microsoft
Office site? I've spent the past 2 hours attempting to figure out if this is
even possible - I'm on Office Live, but that attempt did not lead to any
success.

Contact the retailer or from whoever you purchased the key from and ask them.

BTW. You cannot use a purchased Product Key on a Trial version of Office. You need
to uninstall the Trial and then re-install your purchased version of Office along
with the key that you have purchased.

Not necessarily. You can convert to a perpetual version once you purchase a
product key. If the purchased product key is for the same edition as the
installed trial then the product key can be used to convert the installation
to a perpetual version. You can also purchase a retail copy of Office and
use its product key to covert a trial version. Again, provided it's the same
edition.

When folks purchase Office online more than likely all they are doing is
purchasing the product key to covert the trial. They're not purchasing the
physical installation CDs (even though they are available for purchase) or
any of the other options, such as the "online safe" you can purchase to
store your product key and installation download online so it can be used in
the event your computer crashes and you no longer have the software or
product key. ;-) (The shame of the matter is you end up paying more for the
physical media and the "online safe" option than if you were to simply go to
your local computer store and buy a retail copy. <sigh>)
