This version of Office is being sold on ebay, if you are a student is it OK
to buy it.

I am really surprised that more shops don't stock it if it is legal. From
the Microsoft website it seems you can buy it from 'Any Microsoft Authorised
Education Reseller'. I live in the UK and none of the major chain-stores
sell it - surely they would get in on the act, even if it meant having to
jump through a few hoops to convince Microsoft they were suitable.

The chains *can't* sell it. It's an academic version and you must provide
proof that you are a student at a recognized educational institution.
Whoever is selling it on eBay is risking a lawsuit.

Can you buy this a student? (not through your uni, but yourself I have
checked out my uni's website and they only offer this service to staff not
students!) If you click the link you will see that the seller claims to be
Authorised Education Reseller. I was very wary of this, but if you follow the
link they provide, they are listed on Microsoft's website as a AER.
