Hi all, I run office 2003 for mac, in our mixed use environment at our
company I have noticed that when I receive and excel file from someone
in our office who has upgraded to 2007 for PC that the files come
across as "winmail.dat" I looked at the downloads center and there is
a patch for new file compatibility for office 2007 files but it
appears to only be for PC users. I have searched the microsoft site
for info on mac compatibility on these new file formats to no avail-
any help out there?

Not yet - the Office Open XML Converter.app that you can download at
Mactopia.com, only converts Word .docx files.

However, you can use the free NeoOffice application to open XL07 files:

http://www.neooffice.org/

or Apple's Numbers08 app, for which you can get a 30-day trial here:

http://www.apple.com/iwork/

As the MS converter is essentially the Office08 engine with the U/I
stripped out, I expect a version that converts XL07 format files shortly.

Winmail.dat files are *not* what they may seem to be. They are generated by
Exchange Server and are not the document files themselves. You can Google
for winmail.dat & get about 600,000 hits, but this is a good place to start:
