Office 2007 Professional

I'm about to upgrade to Office 2007 Pro, but I noticed that the memory
requirements for grammer & spelling is substantially above the base
requirements of 256 MB.
"Grammar and contextual spelling in Word is not turned on unless the machine
has 1 GB memory."
Does this mean that there is no spelling functionality unless I meet this
requirement? Can I manually try to turn it on? I currently have 512MB of
system memory and am running WinXP SP3 on a Dell 4500.

I assume it affects the spelling & grammer functionality in other Office
applications.
