Office 2007 Professional

I may have made a stupid error and I'm seeking assistance.

I recently bought a new laptop that had a trial version of Office 2007 Home
& Student pre-loaded. From reading the Microsoft & Dabs.com websites I
assumed that purchasing a Medialess License Kit (MLK) for Office 2007
Professional would allow me to upgrade and be legitimate.

All that I get when entering the Product Key is that it is invalid. I've
already contacted Microsoft and they referred me to the supplier, Dabs, who
have not even acknowledged my contact. What the MLK does is only convert the
version pre-loaded.

Over the weekend, I thought that if I downloaded a trial version of the
Professional version that the Product Key would work - Not So!

If anyone can offer any assistance, it would be much appreciated as, at the
moment, I have paid £180+ for a credit-card sized piece of plastic.

Regards

What you purchased was the license for an OEM version of the software, not
the trial activation. There are a lot of companies that are selling that
license and then the people aren't able to activate anything they have.
Now, if you can find an OEM CD and install that version on your system you
would be able to activate it with your license key.

See http://www.microsoft.com/oem/english/office/mlk.mspx for information on
the MLK.

I recommend that you return for refund and purchase a valid license but if
you have opened any packaging to get at the license in question you probably
won't be able to return it. Their web site isn't totally specific in the
way to use the key since they specify both the MLK and trial on the same web
page. (BTW, you aren't the first to post on the NGs in reference to the MLK
activation.)

From the Dabs.com web site
http://www.dabs.com/Article.aspx?NavigationKey=4294966792+4294967288&ArticleID=2958

"Office 2007 Medialess License kits (MLK)

MLKs are only intended for sale with a new Microsoft Office Ready PC, and
are priced accordingly"

Their return policy is here: http://www.dabs.com/Article.aspx?ArticleId=357

Good luck.
