Office 2007 reconfigures every time I start Word

I have Office 2007 installed on my home compter running XP pro. No network.
Just a standalone computer. For several months Word worked fine. Now every
time we start Word we must wait about 5 minutes for Office 2007 to
"Configure" itself, then Word starts up. I do not know that anything has
changed or been added that may cause this new behavior.
