Hi
I have a pc that has come in for repair with office 2007 enterprise that is
corupted.
I tried Add/remove proigrams but it just asks for the install CD which I
dont have.

Does anyone have a removal tool to force remove office 2007 (files and
registry entries)

Many thanks

This information from Microsoft may help:

"How to manually uninstall the 2007 Office system if you cannot uninstall it
by using the "Add or Remove Programs" feature"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218

I do not believe Microsoft offers a removal tool. You will find such tools
from third-parties, but I personally do not trust them. Particularly when
they are published by places like "refusetosuffer.com"

That method of removal from Microsoft does not work for me. When I
right-click the msi and select uninstall it says the installation source is
not available. The article does not address what to do when that happens.

You will need to know the name of the file that the uninstaller is looking
for - it's usually spelled out in the error message - and then locate that
file in your original install source.

For the 2007 Office system, the install source is typically the Local
Install Source (LIS.) The LIS is a hidden folder on your C: drive (or
whichever drive Office was installed on) called MSOCache.

To search for the missing file in the LIS, first make hidden folders
visible. Then, when the uninstaller halts to ask for the location of
whatever file it needs, 'browse' to the likely location in the hidden
MSOCache folder.

If the LIS has been damaged, so the needed file is no longer available, you
can 'browse' with your Office install CD.

Obviously that http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218 will not work. You have a
ENTERPRISE version and you do NEED the installation files (CD or DVD) for it's
removal. Remember that this is a VL version. Ask you client for the install media.
If he does not have it then it is a pirated version. Your only choice is to reformat
to get rid of it.

If it is a legal version then you could do the following after getting all the
pertinent info on it's procurement from your client is to use the free support (free
call) to the following below.

Here you will find the Phone numbers and email addresses as to where and whom to
contact about Office Enterprise and your issue. All the pertinent info will be needed
on it's procurement.

thanks for that

I am certainly not going to format the disk for the client the cost of our
time would be too much.

I'll let it go back to the client with the software installed.

I hope that microsoft comes up with something soon to get round this problem,
after all it in their own interest to have pirated software removed, WITHOUT
having to format the whole disk.

I have spoken with other repair centers over this issue and they are like me
now not going to do anything UNTIL microsoft comes up with a removal tool.

Im sure that microsoft with all its expertise will not find it that hard to
do and I will be waiting for the release of such a tool in the near future

cheers
