office 2007 requirement for local source

M

Marzipan

I have read that office 2007 requires the installation source files be local;
i.e. no network admin point. How much local disk space will be required for
a full install of office 2007?

Hi Marzipan,

The Office Admin Installation Point for deployment of Enterprise/volume license editions of Office 2000-2003 is being replaced for
Office 2007 with the Office Network Admin Point (oNIP).

The oNIP is a CD image, except that if you have multiple MS Office 2007 products to deploy you can combine the multiple CDs into a
single oNIP folder structure, basically by copying the CD into the oNIP.

The Local Installation Source (LIS/MSOCache) will be deployed locally (not optional as it is in Office 2003).

With eight end user products and several Office server products there isn't a set 'how much space' definition that would apply to
all scenarios, plus the Office 2007 products aren't quite done yet, but you'll find details on how it can be deployed and product
planning information in the Office 2007 (beta 2) Resource Kit at
http://microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/office/ork/default.mspx
